{"id":1079,"date":"2018-06-28T03:30:34","date_gmt":"2018-06-28T03:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carolgreene.com\/travel\/?p=1079"},"modified":"2018-06-28T01:33:45","modified_gmt":"2018-06-28T01:33:45","slug":"wednesday-june-27-2018-umbria-and-assisi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.carolgreene.com\/travel\/?p=1079","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday, June 27, 2018 ~ Umbria and Assisi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning we left Tuscany and went on to Assisi. \u00c2\u00a0On the way we stopped in Perugia to tour a very old building where women are carrying on the family business making stained glass windows. \u00c2\u00a0The grandmother gave us a fascinating tour and explanation of the process. \u00c2\u00a0My favorite stained glass there was of Queen Margherita of Italy.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.carolgreene.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_1701.jpg\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1075 size-full\" height=\"640\" width=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.carolgreene.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_1701.jpg 480w, http:\/\/www.carolgreene.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_1701-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The owner showed us the process of making stained glass and their tools. \u00c2\u00a0We saw how they had modernized the process with a new kiln.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.carolgreene.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_1713.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1076\" height=\"640\" width=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.carolgreene.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_1713.jpg 480w, http:\/\/www.carolgreene.com\/travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/img_1713-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We walked through the old city and looked at the stained glass windows in the church. \u00c2\u00a0Some had been restored by the family of stained glass makers we had just met. \u00c2\u00a0Then we ate a delicious lunch at a small restaurant not too far from the church.
